Who We Are

Laramie Foster Closet is a unique, faith-based, children’s organization providing support services to foster families in Laramie, Wyoming. Through faith, our family model approach, and committed service, we are dedicated to providing support for foster children while in state custody. We strive to foster and support healthy and productive lives, free of fear, endangerment, and most of all abuse. Children and families can find dignity, guidance, and hope through offerings of clothing, shoes, school supplies, and more that we offer in a free shopping environment.

The total number of kids in foster care in the state of Wyoming is 996, while 803 are waiting to be adopted. Currently, in Laramie, Wyoming we have 30 foster families with 30-45 children in care at any given time. Another goal of Laramie Foster Closet is to educate the community about foster care and the need for foster families. With the growing number of foster children in the area, more families are needed to care for them and we are hoping to increase licensing capabilities. It is our hope that through constant interaction with the community and foster parents, we can begin to support this part of our community better.

With regard to children in Department of Family Service’s care, we strive to foster hope rather than despair, potential rather than limitations, healing rather than hurting, belonging rather than isolation, and what the future can be, rather than what the past has been. We are committed to meeting desperate needs in our community by sharing God’s love and placing hope in their lives- one child and family at a time.

Laramie Foster Closet exists to clothe foster families with compassion. On a daily basis, we network within our community to collect donations, sort, organize, and stock them into a closet where foster families can shop for free for the needs of their foster children. It is the heart of our ministry to provide children in care with the best experience possible by uplifting them and their foster parents by providing a foster community, sports equipment, after school activity scholarships, and much more.

Please join us in meeting the needs of the most vulnerable part of our community, children who are unable to speak for themselves. We are excited to partner with you in showing compassion, giving hope, and shining a light.
